ASSISTANCE FOR ELDERLY AND DISABLED

Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services offers Aging and Disability Resource Centers. These Centers provide information about and help with state, federal and local benefits. Many Aging and Disability Resource Centers have Housing Navigators that can help you connect with housing in a setting appropriate for your needs. You may find information online or through the information here, if applicable.


SECTION 7

WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE

Weatherization. Organizations funded by TDHCA's Weatherization Assistance Program help low-income households control energy costs through the installation of weatherization materials and minor home repairs, which may include caulking or window sealing. Please contact your local provider or call toll free at (888) 606-8889 (Land lines only) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE

Emergency Repair Program: The Emergency Repair Program uses Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to provide grants to lower income homeowners requiring emergency repairs for hazardous or life-threatening problems in their homes. Grants up to $4500 can address emergency repairs including plumbing, electrical, heating, or roofing. Work may also include renovations to improve accessibility to and within the unit.
